Homestay in 加拿大 － Victoria
Welcome! Prefer a female please. Your cozy basement room is available for January. Very safe and quiet neighbourhood in a house with 1950s character, with a large back and Front yard and lots of trees including Japanese cherry blossoms in spring. We are very Close to downtown Victoria and just a 10 minute bus ride from many of the language schools, Stores, restaurants, beautiful, harbor, museums, and festivals that happen there. It is really the ideal location because it’s like living in the country and yet we are only 10 minutes by bus away from downtown, 1.5 blocks to bus stop (goes directly to University of Victoria or downtown), 3 blocks from the harbor, and 3 blocks to the gorge waterway with beautiful walking trails and swimming as well. and walking distance to stores, local cafes and services.
This is a very clean, comfortable bedroom with twin bed, desk, dresser, and closet. You would share the kitchen and bathroom with 2 young, working and studying.
Dog is sweet, stays upstairs.
I work at home most days.
Everything is included, including laundry is available for you.
I’m a Mom to 2 daughters (both gone off to university in other places) and I have been hosting international people from around the world for 10 years and understand the challenges of living in a new culture. I have also been to a number of other countries, speak French, and have spoken Spanish (though rusty).
This is a safe neighbourhood- fantastic location, Which is very close to downtown (20 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride), where several language schools are located-
1 block to bus and local’s favourite cafe, bakery and take out, 3 blocks from the ocean harbour and very close to grocery and health services.
There is a clothes washer and tumble dryer for your use.
You will need to be able to clean up your dishes, and do your laundry which is downstairs.
Though if you need something, I am often at home here (I work at home) and happy to support you.
A little more about the neighborhood: We are just about 2 km from downtown Victoria, and the inner Harbor. But at the same time it’s very quiet neighborhood, where people walk a lot, are friendly and where we know our neighbours. There is a cafe where all the locals go and a bakery also - 1 block away. There are grocery stores in walking distance and take out restaurants, Tai and Japanese as well as healthy and pizza places. We are 3 blocks from the ocean, with a schoolyard in the back so fresh air from the ocean and the trees and and the birds sing in the morning, it’s almost like a bird sanctuary. If you like you can garden as we have a large yard ir throw the ball for the dog if you like. The bus is very close by, there is one that goes to the university within two blocks, and it also goes downtown. We have a bike trails on both sides and both within two blocks. These trails go everywhere in town and the bike trails in Victoria downtown
are excellent.
