Sea To Sky Homestay

North Vancouver (Keith-Lynn)

Homestay in North Vancouver, Canada

I have been hosting international guests for over five years. We love meeting people from other cultures. We have hosted students/guests from all over the world, including Europe, England, Canada, US, and South America.

We have visited many countries including England, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Mexico, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Phillipines, Hawaii and many other states in the United States, including Arizona, Washington State, and Massachusetts.

I love yoga, and writing and long hikes. We are very close to many ocean beaches, and the North Vancouver Spirit Trail. I am writing my third novel about the early French explorers. I belong to the Canadian Institute of Urban Planners, and our local Chamber of Commerce. I sit on many committees for my community including the Public Art Committee and I am Chair of the Social Advisory Committee.
My husband belongs to BC Tourism, and is a Board Director. We can make many suggestions for interesting places to visit in Vancouver. Our home is a three storey restored classical vintage house in North Vancouver, built in 1911, in a beautiful neighbourhood of gardens and trees, a 10 minute walk to the seabus to Vancouver. We have one small dog, she is not allowed on the second floor suites. Internet and room cleaning is additional. The bedroom is on the third floor with
panoramic views of the ocean - Georgia Strait and the Salish Sea, and mountains - Grouse Mountain and the Sister's Mountains. Steps away from shops, services, restaurants, movie theatre, and the Lonsdale Quay Food Market and the lively Shipyards District. (Stand up shower) You are a 10 minute easy and pleasant walk to the Seabus to downtown Vancouver - you arrive from the seabus and are downtown. (Seabus goes every 10 minutes, and there is a bus transit stop to downtown Vancouver and to Capilano University behind the house) We are also a 15 minute walk to Lion's Gate Hospital.

Rules of the house are- respect and consideration. I am a published writer, and work from home, so expect guests to respect my privacy when I am in writing mode. Also, no strong scented cosmetic products as some homestay students are allergic. (Only natural and unscented)
Vancouver is a "recycling and environmentally" conscious city, so please place paper, etc in the recycling area in the kitchen, and to take recycling out to the backyard occassionally. Any dishes used are to be placed in the dishwasher, or washed and put away.
We also expect guests to have gracious and respectful behaviour, and follow our Canadian way of talking out any matters of concern.
Weekly rates are by a case by case basis. If you are a working professional looking for a home base on arrival, or here for a conference or vacation, then the rates will be closer to the bed and breakfast rates.

Our home is known for its peaceful, calm and friendly welcoming environment. Guests particularly like having tea on the verandah and outdoor courtyards. We look forward to hosting you, and introducing you to Canadian culture and the Canadian character.
